Just south of the Rappahannock River, Fishing Bay is located at the mouth of the smaller Piankatank River. Its deep water basin, (16-18 feet) and protected beauty make it a favorite anchorage for boats heading up and down the Bay. It provides good protection from west, north and east winds. It is open to the prevailing southerlies, which provide a comfortable breeze during the summer heat. See Our Location page for details on how to approach.
In addition to Fishing Bay Marina, Fishing Bay is lined with private homes along its eastern edge. It is also home to the Fishing Bay Yacht Club, which often runs races for small sailboats on the weekends in Fishing Bay. Fishing Bay Marina is the largest floating slip marina in Deltaville.
Fishing Bay is about a mile or so from Deltaville’s center, where transients can shop for supplies, dine out, visit the maritime museum, or even take in a semi-pro baseball game. Deltaville is known for its boat building history, and even today there are more boats than people populating this rural Virginia town. See our Area Attractions page for more information on shops, services and fun in Deltaville.
